Well, I just had to upgrade AVG on a spare laptop. It just would not install, until I disabled Spybot. It then installed without a hitch. Perhaps this is the compatibility issue then, and maybe the blame is not all with AVG?

No. The compatibility issue is supposed to be with AVG blocking you from using it with other (important) security products.

They are basically just starting to do what Norton and all the other rip off vendors did. Clear your computer of all the perfectly good programs, install their own bloatware and give you basically no protection. Then tell you you have a virus but not be able to remove it. (Well, they aren't quite that bad yet)

Great, ain't it

Spybot, is however, an excellent tool.

But Spybot is stopping you from even installing AVG, so which is worse?

Anyway, if you don't like bloatware you just run Linux!

No, I think you are still confused.

Spybot blocks nothing from installing.

AVG refuses to install whilst Spybot is installed.

At least thats the way it looks.

I suppose Thunderbird occasionally refuses to send email when Avast is installed too.
