hi i did a scan with avg free last night the only thing it foung was a change to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. also what is best software to scan for malware as i have a very slow internet only half a mg at most times when it should be up to 8. thanks.

AVG reporting a change in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts is normal.

That is your Host file. Security programs like Spybot, SpywareBlaster and many others will add new entries to the Host file during updates.

As long as AVG doesn't report them as infected then there is nothing to worry about,


If you think you may have malware read HERE

You may need to just do some good cleanup. Yips for that can be found HERE

thanks i will give all them things ago. does spybots not pick up malware. cheers.

Spybot picks up alot of things and is good to use. Although SUPERAntiSpyware scans for and removes much more.
