kaspersky has the gretest protection out of every single one ever, hAvAAck it never slowed my computer down, it slows internet exploring down though but this is due to page scanning, next best is AVG Antivirus which is free and then its NOD32.

well I'm definitely glad to hear that, but it did slow mine down so that'd be the only experience I've had with it. Right no I'm running avast (the one you pay for or whatever) and I don't really notice it's running..not that I endorse it

I use bitdefender and have used it for the past few years. I found it less heavy on the resources than many of the others and quite thorough. The latest version can slow your computer down a little when it is installing updates. you can get around this by changing the frequency of updates from every hour to every 5 hours.

Running the OS in ram is another alternative to avoid infection of virus. Once it occurs, just reboot the computer and all viruses will be destroyed.
