Default Blacklist help

I am looking for a blacklist of undisirable web sites that have adult content, mal ware prone, ileagle content and any other websites I don't want to have anyone look up in the form of IP addresses so I can put them on my router for it to block. is there any company or something that can do that?

I don't know of any lists, just watch your logs and ban sites that show up there.

hpHOSTS is a community managed hosts file. What that means to you is that you have a key role to play in improving hpHOSTS by submitting undesirable sites you think should be listed or by requesting removal of sites you think may have been added in error. This process is performed in our public forums and all decisions to add or remove sites are subject to public criticism and ongoing re-evaluation. ----------

Adding unwanted sites to the Internet Explorer Restricted Zone

Right-click an empty space on the Desktop and create a new folder.

Download DelDomains.zip
  • IE users Right-click on the link and select Save As.
  • Firefox users Right-click on the link and choose Save link as...
  • Save it to the new folder just created.
  • Open the new folder and unzip the contents of DelDomains.zip
  • making sure Internet Explorer is closed right-click on mvps.bat and choose Open
  • Follow any prompts. When it installs you won't see anything happen so give it a few seconds.
  • Delete the new folder and restart the computer.
Note: if you use SpywareBlaster, Spybot and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection they afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and select Enable all protection. For Spybot run the program and select Immunize. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.

Just to add to the excellent suggestions, you could also try SiteAdvisor - not always 100% but pretty close.

One good DNS blackhole list site is:
http://malwaredomains.com/

Filtering at the DNS level at the router is a good system, it filters an amazing amount of crap from ever getting to your network.

If you would like my current DNS blackhole list I can send it to you if you would like it.

But, a much better option would be to sign up for OpenDNS.

It's completely free, and basically allows you to filter anything you don't want on your network out, at the router level (porn, gambling, adware, all other crap etc)

It should also speed up your browsing experience because they cache a lot of DNS queries so they can process DNS queries quicker.

I highly suggest you look at it.

With OpenDNS, you use the OpenDNS servers instead of the DNS servers your ISP provides.

Dynamic DNS.. not sure what you mean by that. If you don't have a static IP address then you have to use the OpenDNS update client to let them know when you IP address changes.
