DynDNS is a service that allows you to keep a domain like example.com pointed towards your dynamic IP address. So everytime your IP address changes, it updates the DNS so you can still access your IP address.

Do you mean to say that your router also has an option to update OpenDNS?

Otherwise you just need to run the OpenDNS update service on a computer on your network.

It is possible to block just certain pages as long as your users are not too computer savy.

Basically, the way it works is that when you type in www.google.co.uk into the address bar, your computer sends a request out to find out what IP address the Google server has.

A DNS server holds records that say www.google.co.uk is at 66.102.9.104. So your computer gets this address and then it attempts to connect to that IP address, and gets the web page.

However, when you use OpenDNS, if it knows what your IP address is and have told it to block porn, when it sees a DNS request coming from your local IP address, it returns a block page rather than the IP address of the porn page.

This is why it is important that you run the OpenDNS update client, otherwise whenever your IP address changes that your ISP gives you, OpenDNS will not know whether you need something blocking or not.

If you just want to block some sites, then you need to change the DNS server address for just some of the computers. I.e. leave the DNS server address the same as it used to be in the router, but change the computers you want blocked to the OpenDNS servers, by right clicking on the network connection, Select TCIP, click Properties and set it there.
