| My computer is locking up not a complete freeze the mouse still works, some programs will respond for a short time. There is no one program that is causing it, it seems to happen no matter what I'm doing. I does however only seem to happen around the same time frame I'd say about an hour. After all programs stop working the hard drive status light goes into a slow, dim, intermittent blink. As for what I've tried- multiple anti-virus, antispyware, Registry cleaner, memory checker, disk error checker, freed up as much space a possible, opened the case cleared dust off of all components. I haven't got a successful program to check fan speed (motherboard ASUS Lithium L5LP-LE is not compatible) Really the only thing that is unique is the fact windows still function after programs start to freeze and the odd pattern of the light. I hope someone has had this problem and/or knows a solution. (Short of system recovery) I'm fairly computer savvy and I have run out of ideas. I have a hp pavilion a1750y, 1g of ram, Intel pentium D 2.8ghz, 226gb hard drive, Vista operating sytem (i know i know) But everything has operated fine with this computer for a year and a half. Its optimized the best i can get it and was running great. Now this I'm baffled! |

| Spybots tea Timer can slow a computer down. It is too resource hungry for what it does. I personally refuse to run it. There are better alternatives that use almost zero resources. We need to disable it anyway to fix the entries with Hijackthis as it may try to block them. I will also give instructions on how to stop the Ad-Aware 2007 Service from using so many resources. It also is unnecessary because the 2007 version has no real time protection. ---------- Disable Spybot's TeaTimer While TeaTimer is an excellent tool for the prevention of spyware, it can sometimes prevent our tools from fixing certain things. Please disable TeaTimer for now until you are clean. TeaTimer can be re-activated once your logs are clean. First:
Second:
Third: With both Tea timer and SpyBot closed download ResetTeaTimer.zip
Note: If TeaTimer gives you a warning afterwards that some changes were made, allow this instead of blocking it. ---------- How to remove the Ad-Aware 2007 Service To disable the unnecessary Ad-Aware Service from running follow this procedure. To stop Ad-Aware running as a Service.
@ECHO OFF Ad-Aware2007.exe sc stop aawservice @echo Done
Take care in working this procedure carefully. We are not responsible for mistakes. ---------- Open HijackThis and select Do a system scan only. Place a check mark next to the following entries: O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file) O2 - BHO: NCO 2.0 IE BHO - {602ADB0E-4AFF-4217-8AA1-95DAC4DFA408} - (no file) O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {7FEBEFE3-6B19-4349-98D2-FFB09D4B49CA} - (no file) O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {2D663D1A-8670-49D9-A1A5-4C56B4E14E84} - (no file) Close all windows except for HijackThis and click Fix checked. Exit Hijackthis. ---------- Install these in place of Spybots Tea Timer. Realtime Malware Blockers - Programs that are designed to preventing malware from being installed.
Post a new Hijackthis log after this and I will look for anything else that is running unnecessarily. |
