Default Email - How to know if it is a scam

Ah I hate spam mail!!!

I accidently clicked allow sender instead of delete and block once on something in my junk folder.

Which has allowed whoever was sending it to know how to get it to go into my regular inbox. Since then I get a 1 or 2 a day (not as many as in my Junk folder) in my inbox, from different addreses, that no matter how many times I delet and block, remain persistent! Makes me very annoyed....

I don't get spam ever, why would this be? everyone i know seems to get tons of it yet i haven't had a single spam mail not a single one for the past 3 years? i have around 4000 mail from Cj, 500 from Youtube, 500 from other sites like networking, gaming etc but not a single spam email. I havnt got any filters or walls in place no anti spam security to the best of my knowlege. Guess im just lucky? By the way, I'm to lazy to clean up my mail

What domain is your email registered to?

That can make a huge difference, mines hotmail, which is well known for getting loads of junk - because it's targeted s its so popular.

If you used some really small company, or an email that came free with a website you host, then its a lot less likely that people will target it to send spam mail to.

It may also be the name that KanoakaVirus is using that has keep spamer away.
If a spamer sees and email addy that looks like a person name then they will get spam but then again I have a hotmail account and don't get spam but I also do not use it that much.
If an email addy is smithjames at hotmail.com they will see more spam. But if it is smithJaMes8888897$^&486hynBFD Because this is to a spamer looks like a spamers addy.

I'll second that having your own domain instantly means a ton less spam.

I run our email server in house, have a custom domain and run Spam Assassin and barely ever have a spam mail come through.

Hotmail account on the other hand... that one receives 30 to 50 a day, which all get removed once it gets forwarded through my server :)

Gmails spam filtering is excellent also. Some people forward their email to Gmail just for the spam filtering it offers.

Now there is another new scam out McDonalds Customers Satisfaction Servey. Going to have to watch for this one for the scam is telling people that they McDonalds will pay you up to $125.00 to take there servey. When you open the email they begin to download spyware on to your computer along with other things. just another way to get your personal information.
The best thing to do if you get this email is delete it.

Ok now I need someone help with an email . My friend got it two weeks ago and this is the first one I ever seen where the header is longer then the email. And I do mean long . something like 4 log files . Anyone know where to send it . I have run checks for spyware, malware and virus but nothing come up. And I still don't trust it. It has to be some virus or something, For the way it looks . it looks like a program. Anyone know where to send it other then deleting it.
