Click on the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button.
HijackThis will scan and then a log will open in notepad.
In the top left of the notepad window click "File" > "Save As" name it hijackthis and then save it to the Desktop.
Please save the log as a text (.txt) file.
In your post, add the log as an Attachment.

Go to add/remove programs and uninstall Java j2re1.4.2_03 This is an outdated version.
Then go to www.java.com and download the latest version.

I don't see anything malicious in the log.

You do have the PC Tools Firewall Plus. Is the Windows built in Firewall also active?

I have deactivated the windows firewall because that seemed to be the problem. The internet then worked. I then downloaded another firewall and the internet stopped working so i deactivated the new firewall and the internet started working again, my worry is whether i am adequately protected. I use avg antivirus but dont know if it has a firewall with it, I also use a netgear router. I dont understand why my internet would not work with the windows firewall on.

Running two at one time (firewalls) will cause problems. AVG does not have a firewall.

I am not real familiar with PC Tools firewall.

It is possible that it just simply does not agree with your computer. Maybe try another one. Firewalls the Comodo and Outpost (both free) are less "controlling" than most. And still rate highly among users.
