Good list.

The AVG update gave me fits. Wouldn't install. So we are now wildly split around here between recommending either AVG and Avast.

As long as they both keep protecting then thats what matters.

Yes, if you have Spybot and/or Zonealarm installed you have to stop both to install AVG. Oh, and uninstall any old version of AVG first.

Let's not open that can of worms again though!

I must be the only one round here that never had problems installing AVG 8 and I am running Vista Ultimate .... that has to be a first for Vista

Having said that, I didn't have Spybot or Zone Alarm installed, but it's running happily with SuperAntiSpyware and SpywareBlaster.

I have spybot and both that and AVG 8 are happy together.

I'm pretty sure it's because i put spybot on after AVG, if it was the other way around then I probably would have got the same 'remove it first' message from AVG.

Hell, Dave, I didn't get any message. AVG went through the motions of installing but wasn't installed. Really odd! If you tried to run it manually it just said it wasn't configured correctly.

I'll test your theory Dave and add Spybot now, the same as you did ..... I'll post back with results.

Yep ...... Spybot working fine for me too,
so that's all of the following playing nicely with each other :

AVG8
SpywareBlaster
SuperAntiSpyware
SpyBot

Installed in that order on Vista
