Phil, have you got the resident part of Spybot in your system tray though? I haven't. (SDHelper is it?)

No, the other one.

Teatimer was a pain, it never ever displayed its dialogues properly for me. Always corrupted.

I believe the SD Helper adds lots of sites to the Host file for blocking in IE.

I did install this, but no icon in the system tray, afaik there isn't meant to be.

It is part of the Immunizations I think.

Quote:
Spybot's real time protection has URL blocking (HOSTS file), Active-X execution protection and URL restriction ("Immunize') and Registry change monitoring and malious process blocking (Tea Timer). So what exactly is SD Helper monitoring when Spybots real time protection has the above covered? What exactly is SD Helper blocking? Certain files with certain extentions? Websites? Even more processes then Tea Timer blocks? The documention is scarce it seems.

Well, I didn't uninstall or disable anything - and I run SG, SWB, ZA Pro and SpyBot. AVG 8 installed, configured and updated with no issues. Maybe I got the special Scots version...

Norton insists on uninstalling everything else before you put it on. You just reinstall everything afterwards, to keep an eye on Norton!
