Thirded is that a word lol? Norton is shite regardless of what OS you are using. AVG anti-spyware, Spybot S&D, ZoneAlarm firewall and Ad-Aware all as mentioned above should do the job. I've not had any major problems whilst them just a few tracking cookies here and there.

Yeah, agree with what's been said.

If you want to pay for an antivirus, go with NOD32.

Otherwise stick to well-known proven free products such as AVG.

Also, you can never have too many anti-spyware tools, and you are never 100% protected no matter what methods you implicate.

Alright, so I guess I will make plans to get rid of Norton Internet Security. I personally have been pleased with it. But, it is kind of scary that everytime I scan it only finds 1 MAYBE 2 things. Then I switch to Lavasoft's Ad-Aware and finds a lot of things. So I will try most if not all that was provided here. I appreciate everything. You guys do great work!

If you uninstall Norton (which I agree is a good move) make sure you use the Norton Removal Tool .... dont try uninstalling from Control Panel as it will leave junk & bloatware all over the place, which will clogg up the system, just like it does, when it's running

Removal Tool here ........ grab the right version :

I have been using another free (for home users) Anti Spyware App called SuperAntiSpyware, which I must say works brilliantly. In fact I have kept it, in favour of Adaware, which doesn't seem too well supported these days (it had its day).
You can grab a free copy here if interested :

http://www.superantispyware.com/

I'd be interested to hear what you guys think of it . It plays well with other Appz too.

You're welcome ...... but for Anti Virus, if you're paying, I would agree with Gazmondo, NOD32 takes a lot of beating and isn't a resource hiog.

Well, you have to admit it's not brilliant software

Anyway, back on topic the list I provided earlier is a load of good software but I don't know what ones come with an x64 flavour.

That's about all I have to say, really

I'd go a lot further than that and say it's the biggest 'pile of poo' on the shelf.

I'd love a quid for every time I've had to sort out the aftermath of a Norton installation.
Whenever I see it being pushed with a new PC , it makes me cringe, thinking of what the poor bu**er has in store
