When I used to use Norton when mine expired I had great trouble trying to remove it, it's as if they put something on there to prevent it from removing properly! In the end I had to get my mate to do it and he had trouble and hes quite computer keen.

Well I had similar problems in the past and the only solution that I know for it is to format your PC. If anyone has a better solution then please let me know.
Someone also told me that you have to uninstall it in a stepwise manner by selectively uninstalling some of its features.
But I really found that too complicated.
Guess Norton is becoming like a spyware. Easy to install difficult to remove.

Ever since I removed Norton from my computer, which ended up in me reformatting. I look at it as spy ware... As no software which is meant to help you should cause so much trouble & hassle to remove. It's ridiculous.

I think everybody should stay away from norton I think it is utterly useless.

It causes more problems rather than fixing them or protecting you.

One think I coudlnt get rid off when removing norton was the symantec help center.. Grr made me very mad.

I used to like Norton but when I built my work and gaming computer 2 yrs ago all the hardware was the best I had windows XP on a new hard drive. After installing a new Norton it had to restart to finnish the install but the comp would not restart. All norton support told me was to look on the support fac. They would not help me as an individual case. I had to reformat the drive a few times and try again nothing their facs said helped.

I use Zonealarm now it's miles better to use never had a problem with it although I had to find a tutorial to get my 3D software to run with it. You don't have to reinstall windows or buy a new hard drive to uninstall it.

I have used AVG but it lets viruses in. It only gets rid of viruses after a scan. Zonealarm will block most of them getting in the first place.

If you need to re install windows on an already used drive, use the slow option. Quick format is only for new hard drives the slow option removes all the data before the windows install.

Install your anti virus before going on the microsoft update page I've got a virus straight away evertime.
