My friend had £2k stolen from his credit card and I don't want this to happen to me. He suggested using an online credit monitoring service. Does anyone know any websites where you can find information on how to protect your privacy online/offline?
Lots of information can be gleaned from Google, but no one website appears to provide the guidance I need....

How did you friend have £2k stolen? He should be able to recover it via his credit card company via issuing a chargeback claim.

It's comes down to common sense really, make sure the site has "https" in the address bar when ordering and the little padlock to say it's secure. Ensure the site has a full trading address if it doesn't it is in breach of the distant selling regulations.

Some good tips here:

Also try and pay for goods using a credit card as you always have protection with it. :)

Hope this helps,

David01 please do not post duplicate threads, one is enough.

Thanks

Thanks for that info. My friend had £2k stolen from his card but claimed it back through the bank's fraud dept. So no harm done. Just a little unsure about what I need to do (he did have hassle! so I don't want to have the experience).....checked the website you mentioned - useful...I did find another website called ID THEFT PROTECT when I searched in google.

Both my wife and I use only credit cards online and are aware we are covered for any loss that may occur when using a credit card - as long as we can prove it of course!

I know of several friends that have had their cards cloned....not good!
