What exactly happens now?
Hi,
I was guided to this website to test if Java is working on my computer:
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml
"If you can see the dancing Duke logo image animated in the applet above, then Java is functioning correctly."
There was no dancing image, just a red "X" in the upper left hand corner of the page.
Please advise.
Thanks again.

Did you do any of this?
If your applet is not displaying properly, please check these additional configurations.
If you are unable to perform any of the steps above due to an error, please reinstall Java.
- Enable Java through your Web browser
- Enable Java through the "Java Plug-in Control Panel"
- Clearing your Web Browser Cache
Download and installation instructions
Hi,
Yes, I checked all three steps.
I then reinstalled Java.
Then checked all three steps again.
I got the same results after re-installing Java.
Thank you.

Hi,
Thank you.
I got Java working. Here were my steps:Everything appears to be working now.
- Let Secunia guide me to install the latest updates for IE7 and Windows XP SP3
- Restart the PC
I had to turn off Avast! and Ad-Aware during downloads and installations or they would stall or lockup.
I had to perform two rounds of the Windows updates until the Secunia warnings went away.- Use Revo Uninstaller 1.80 to remove the current version of Java Version 6 Update 12
- Restart the PC
- Download the on-line installation version of Java Version 6 Update 12 to the desktop
- Close the browser
- Install Java
- Open JavaRa.exe and choose Remove Older Versions
- Exit JaveRa and delete the program
- Run CCleaner
- Restart the PC
- Test the Java installation here
- The dancing Duke logo image animated in the applet
Two questions:Thank you again for your help and guidence.
- I was uncomfortable with turning off Avast! and Ad-Aware during the downloads and installations. Is there anything to check/scan?
- I installed alot of software to fix my problems. Which ones can I remove?

Keep MalwareByutes and SUPERAntiSpyware. Update and run them now and then. Anything else you can keep or remove except for ComboFix. Be sure it's gone.
Hi,
Thank you.
Combofix is gone.
I will follow your recommendations with SuperAnti-Spyware and Malwarebyte's.
Thanks again.
I' so happy!!!![]()
