Default iexplore.exe virus

Hi Guys,
I've looked around this forum and many other sites, looking for a solution to my problem. I've come across a few different threads about this virus, so I apologize for making a new one, but i tried the fixes described in those, and didn't get any closer to getting rid of this thing.
When I open task manager, there are 2 'iexplore.exe' processes running, one usually using around 10,000K of mem, while the other is usually around 40,000K. These processes are there, even though I am not using internet explorer. If I try ending these processes, they automatically return. I'm also getting internet explorer popups every few minutes, which I'm assuming this is causing.

Anyway, here's my hijackthis log.

Default iexplore.exe virus

Welcome to TCF.

Two questions before we continue.

1. Why is there no antivirus running?

2. Do you have Windows firewall turned on?

Default iexplore.exe virus

It's working great now. the iexplore.exe tasks haven't come back, I haven't had any popups, and it seems to be running a bit faster now too.
thanks alot for the help! after looking around for days to find out how to get rid of this, you solved it in no time haha, thanks again

Default iexplore.exe virus

No problem.

You should run a virus scan now that Avast is installed.
Also download and run Superantispyware (SAS) SUPERAntispyware Free Edition to make sure nothing else is there that HijackThis could not find.

Check out the free tools in this post

Safe surfing........
