Be sure to look in add/remove programs and remove any old versions found and then delete old install folders.

Old versions to be removed if found.

Folders to delete.
  • Double click My Computer on the desktop, Locate this folder: C:\Program Files\Java
  • Open the Java folder and delete any subfolders except the jre1.6.0_05 folder which was just created by the newest Java installation.
