i have searched to the far reaches of the internet for fixes to these errors. normally i get better results. but this website came the closest so for the first time in my life i registered to post my hjt log :P

i have the three viruses malware spyware or whatever they are mentioned in the title
i also have csrlt and msblt hanging around somewhere they occasionally poke their heads out. there was a bit of spyware that created files with a space before them like " IEXPLORE.exe" and some others, but they came from "ctfmom" (notice its mom not mon) and i managed to manually find and delete them.. even though i suspect they are still about.

This is a family pc and although my own computer is clean i find i use this one alot. so i guess i need to get all the spyware fixed.

just so you know. i ran the hjt scan whilst the spyware was running but have since closed them if i need to re run them again for any reason i know exactly how to do it.

there are files called firefoxe and iexplor (firefox with and e and ixplore without one) that have been created and they look dodgey just by the fact that they use a dodgey icon that looks usermade in mspaint.... yeah seriously. if you wants a print screen let me know. well they run when you run the respective browser and cause lssmon to run. and if you delete them and just run the actually exe files the computer says it cant find the exe even though i just that second clicked it... stupid windows!!

yes i think thats everything

Welcome to CJ.

First install the new version of HijackThis and use it for scans. (don't run it yet)
Download and rename TrendMicro HijackThis™.exe (HJT)

Alternate download link 1
Alternate download link 2
  • Double-click on HJTInstall.
  • Click on the Install button.
  • It will automatically place HJT in C:\Program Files\TrendMicro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe
  • Upon install, HijackThis should open for you.
  • Click on Do a system scan and save a log file
  • HijackThis will scan and then a log will open in notepad.
  • Copy & Paste the entire contents of the log in your post.
    • Do not have HijackThis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
----------

Download ComboFix by sUBs from one of the below links. Be sure top save it to the Desktop.

Link #1
Link #2

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your Desktop

Close any open Web browsers. (Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc) before starting ComboFix.

Temporarily disable your antivirus, and any antispyware real time protection before performing a scan. Click this link to see a list of security programs that should be disabled and how to disable them.

Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished ComboFix will produce a log for you.
Post the ComboFix log and a new HijackThis log in your next reply.

Important: Do not mouseclick ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Remember to re-enable your antivirus and antispyware protection when ComboFix is complete.

Disable Spybot's TeaTimer

While TeaTimer is an excellent tool for the prevention of spyware, it can also interfere with HijackThis fixes. Please disable TeaTimer for now until you are clean.

1. Right click Spybot in the System Tray (looks like a calendar with a padlock symbol). Choose Exit Spybot S&D Resident
2. Run Spybot S&D
3. Go to the Mode menu, and make sure Advanced Mode is selected.
4. On the left hand side, choose Tools > Resident
uncheck Resident TeaTimer and OK any prompt and Restart your computer.

Note:
If TeaTimer gives you a warning afterwards that some changes were made, allow this instead of blocking it.

If TeaTimer will not turn off then uninstall it until we are done cleaning the computer.

----------

Note: the below instructions were created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, DO NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system

Delete these files/folders, as follows:

1. Go to Start > Run > type Notepad.exe and click OK to open Notepad.
It must be Notepad, not Wordpad.
2. Copy the text in the below code box by highlighting all the text and pressing Ctrl+C

Code:
KillAll::

File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\msupd32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\LSSMON.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\system32\srtsrv32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\LSASSMGR.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mssc32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\bsc32.dll

Registry::
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"Layersecurity Servicemonitor"=-

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\policies\explorer\Run]
"Windows Printing Driver"=-

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\shared tools\msconfig\startupreg\Alcmtr]
3. Go to the Notepad window and click Edit > Paste
4. Then click File > Save
5. Name the file CFScript.txt - Save the file to your Desktop
6. Then drag the CFScript (hold the left mouse button while dragging the file) and drop it (release the left mouse button) into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below. Important: Perform this instruction carefully!

ComboFix will begin to execute, just follow the prompts.
After reboot (in case it asks to reboot), it will produce a log for you.
Post that log (Combofix.txt) in your next reply.

Note: Do not mouseclick ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause your system to freeze

it seems to have done the job but you be the judge of that

the files i mentioned in the internet explorer file and firefox file are still there. though i have un-installed both of those web browsers they still have folders in program files. i can post screen shots of those files if you need me to. they are called 'firefoxe.exe' and 'iexplor.exe'

thanks for the help

'firefoxe.exe' and 'iexplor.exe' are what launch your web browsers. You need them...
  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox
  • Make sure there's a space between Combofix and /u
  • Then hit Enter.

  • The above procedure will:
  • Delete the following:
  • ComboFix and its associated files and folders.
  • Reset the clock settings.
  • Hide file extensions, if required.
  • Hide System/Hidden files, if required.
  • Set a new, clean Restore Point.

----------

Next:

Go to Start > Control Panel > Internet Options
In the General tab, Temporary Internet Files, click:Delete Files
When prompted, check:Delete all offline content
You can also check: Delete Cookies (You will have to re-enter passwords at websites that require them.)
Click OK

Then, go to Start > Run and enter: cleanmgr
Select the drive to clean: C:\
Check the following boxes and then press OK to remove:
  • Temporary Files
  • Temporary Internet Files
  • RecycleBin
Agree to the prompt to perform the action...

Next:

Download ATF Cleaner by Atribune and save it to your Desktop
Follow the instructions for the browser you use.
Read the instructions about the cookies. Delete what you do not need.

Double click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Check the boxes to the left of:
  • Windows Temp
  • Current User Temp
  • All Users Temp
  • Temporary Internet Files
  • Java Cache
The rest are optional - if you want to remove everything, check Select All
Finally click Empty Selected. When you get the "Done Cleaning" message, click OK.
If you use the Firefox or Opera browsers, you can use this program as a quick way to tidy those up as well.
When you have finished, click on the Exit button in the Main menu.

Important: Restart the computer before continuing.

----------

Run this online scan. Requires Internet Explorer

Use the ESET Nod32 Online Scanner

1. Check the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
2. Click Start
3. When asked, allow the activex control to install
4. Click Start
5. Make sure that the option Remove found threats and the option Scan unwanted applications is check marked.
6. Click Scan
7. Wait for the scan to finish
8. Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt
9. Add the C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt log into your next reply
