Hi, I have recently installed McAfee on to my pc. I did have Norton but my subscription ran out. My p.c. seems much slower with McAfee - I have been having a pop up which says "McAfee Proxy Service Module has encounted a problem and needs to close" It gives an option to 'send error report' or 'dont send'. Could this be down to my settings? I am by no means a computer wiz and this is very frustrating when I dont understand why this keeps happening? If anyone can help at all?? Thanx chez xIts just brought up another pop up!! This time saying "Microsoft Visual C + + Runtime Libary. Runtime Error. R6025. Pure virtual function call".I definately removed all Norton from my p.c.Driving me mad!!Thanx all for your ideas. I have done a search on Windows as Bluepixi suggested and there were 2 traces of Norton which i have now deleted - I am hoping that this helps?? So I am guessing most people arent so impressed with McAffee??

Did you uninstall Norton and completely clear the registry of all Norton entries? If not, do this now, reinstall McAfee and see if that cures the problem.

I'd advise not using either Norton or McAfee.

But are resource hoggers and slow your PC down a lot.

They also have many bugs and stability issues.

There are free alternatives available like Avast or AVG.

Both are in our downloads area.
