Default MSN Trojan

hi, yesterday someone on msn sent me a message saying:

i new it was a virus hence the .exe but i downloaded it but did not run it i just saved it to my desktop 2 have a look at it i called it trojan.exe. next i opened the cmd.exe and typed:
C:\users\Kl1x\desktop\trojan.exe strings
I thort this would show me any output commands for the file so i could see something about it. after i clicked enter a windowed message came up:

"Profile not recognised"

i looked on my desktop and the trojan.exe file had disappeard. im wondering if the trojan is actually on my comupter or its been deleted. after i couldnt install spyware doctor, kaspersky, or McAfee, and my history and favourites have been deleted. but nothing else.

im confused whether its on my computer or not :(

please reply someone. thanks a lot

That's real clever posting a link to a live virus isn't it?

Run a virus scan, that should pick anything up.

If AVG is up to date it will pick up anything if it's on your system.

No idea, as I said if your system is infected an AV will pick it up.

if you could also post a hijackthis logfile for perusal, that will help us narrow down what AVG doesn't find......as below:

Please do this:

· Click here to download HJThis.exe (Click the Download from Merijn.org link)
· Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
· Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
· By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
· Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialogue.
· Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
· Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
· At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
· Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
· Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
· Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
· DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

thanks,

v
