| well as i said in title laptop is telling me the system has some spyware on it. it seemed to happen after attepting to install activex. i have downloaded several scanning programs, norton a-squared and trojan hunter. i have scanned with all of them, the first couple of scans came up with around a hundred detections (not the trojan hunter, there was only one with that). anyway the problems havent gone away, i use BT yahoo browser and for no reason my computer keeps opening websites on microsoft internet explorer (like up to 17 or so at times) also its running really slowly now. anyway i have scanned again and there is only 1 problem detected which is a backdoor trojan which cannot be deleted. i have tried to remove it in safe mode and it still wont let me, so please any help would be really appreaciated cos this problem is really annoying. | Welcome to TCF. Sorry I didn't get to you sooner but I didn't see your post till now. There are a few things I would like you to do. Please do these in order. Go into add/remove programs and see if anything is there that shouldn't be and un-install it. Like toolbars etc. Then run CCleaner. Use the default options. If you do not have CCleaner please install it by clicking Here. Once CCleaner is open use the default options and click Analyze and it will show a log of what will be removed. Next click Run Cleaner to remove everything. Next on the upper left of CCleaner select the Registry/Issues tab. Next click Scan For Issues. Next click Fix selected issues. It will prompt you to make a backup. For the first run I would suggest doing so. If you don't have Spybot Search & Destroy please download it Here. * Install Spybot. By default it should install into C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy. * The first time you run it, allow it to create a backup of your registry when prompted. This will take a few minutes to complete. * Click on "Search for Updates". * If any updates are found, place a check mark next to each and click on "Download Updates". * Look for the Immunize tab in Spybot and click on it to imunize. * Do not use the Teatimer function. * Click on "Search & Destroy" > "Check for Problems". * If any problems are found, place a checkmark next to them and click on "Fix Selected Problems." Anything Spybot can not fix please let me know the name of. Download HijackThis Here Once you have it downloaded install/save it to it's own folder!!! This is important for it to work properly. For example save in C:\program files\hijackthis You can then create a shortcut on the desktop. Once installed open the program and select Do a system scan and save logfile. **Important DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required. Save the log to your desktop. Copy and paste the log in your next reply along with any information on what Spybot could not remove. Thanks. Last edited by evilfantasy : 2nd Sep 2007 at 07:01 PM. |

Download CWShredder Here Save it to your desktop. Check for updates. Do the scan. Tell me if it found anything. Post a new HijackThis log. Tell me how things are now. Also, did Spybot find and remove anything? |

| sorry to keep adding problems, but my browser keeps on prompting me to put in my username and password. and i had to restart the computer to get on the interenet as every time i tried to log in it didn't open the browser but just asked me re-enter my password etc. and it takes a few attempts to post on here, cos i keeps telling me to refresh the page and re-enter my username and password. (is all this just due to the internet browser settings?) |
