| Uninstall this > MSN Messenger 5.0 I don't see any Yahoo entries, but if you install the Yahoo Messenger and reinstall MSN Messenger it will install the software and files/folders that go along with it and the mail. Also uninstall Viewpoint Toolbar Older versions of Java have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update. Step 1 - Get the new version

| Uninstalling MSN Messinger 5.0 is no problem. But---tell me how to Install Yahoo Messinger and also to Re-install MSN Messinger. I'll do the Java work as soon as I receive your Un-install/Install instructions. Appreciate what you're doing. |

| Bad news! Before I did your suggested Un-install/installs shown above, I could not get on line this morning via ATT Yahoo. COULD GET ONLINE ON INTERNET EXPLORER to read my ATT Yahoo emails, etc. Also, still next to impossible to get online to my MSN email---except by devious, time consuming route. After I did Un-install/Install items shown above no improvement in any way came about---still all loud noises and clicking sounds from mouse and all of the problems talked about above. Have not done Java work yet. Sorry to admit it, but I am most discouraged. Your help is still most appreciated. What's the next move? |

| Go to Start > Run > type (or copy and paste) sfc /scannow <<--Note the space between sfc and /scannow. This is the System File Checker (SFC). Try resetting your router. There should be a small reset button on the back or bottom of it that you can push in with a pencil or something. Hold it in for atleast 15 seconds. Restart the computer. Are you using free Yahoo email or is this through your ISP? A quick call to your ISP could get some results. |

| Thanks to the 2 of you. I hate to admit it but I don't know what my router is, or where it is located on my computer. I doubt if I can find it, and the enclosed place in my desk that houses the tower makes if next to impossible for me to take things out and look at them, etc. What do I do after I "Go to Start > Run > type (or copy and paste) sfc /scannow <<--Note the space between sfc and /scannow. This is the System File Checker (SFC)"..What do I do after---what am I looking for? ATT Yahoo is my ISP and Yahoo is free. I'm still demoralized. I have a feeling we are very close to solving this problem---but close doesn't count. I'm counting on the 2 of you---and appreciate your help. |

Go to Start > Run > type (or copy and paste) sfc /scannow then click OK. It is the systemfile checker. It will look for any damaged files on the computer. Have your XP install CD handy because you may need it if any damaged files are found. |

| I've been out of town for a day and a half. Hope we can solve this computer mystery now that I'm back. Regarding my ATT account---I've had it for some years. I think I opened it and got the Att Yahoo email for free. For some reason, I can get on ATT. Yahoo now without have to substitute going on to Internet Explorer. So that's not a problem anymore. But I still have difficulty getting into MSN email. Use a real round about way---but do finally get on the MSN email. Still no font, color, Bold, idents, etc strip on either Yahoo or MSN Hotmail email accts. Loud click sounds when I use mouse, and at signal when new message arrives. What can we do? |
