Default Norton 360 auto-protect playing up

For some reason on Norton 360 it says auto protect is off, and when I click 'Tasks & Settings' then 'Change Advanced Settings' then 'Virus And Spyware Protection Settings' then I check the box marked Enable Auto-Protect then click apply and restart the computer its still not enabled, the box doesn't even stay ticked when I exit the Virus And Spyware Protection Settings box. Can anyone please help?

Edit, I'm beginning to think this might be because of malware, because no sound will play and My computer failed to boot and I had to use startup repair.

The best thing to do with Norton is uninstall it.

The free AVs are better and FREE.

You may be able to get that back if you only just bought it.

Try saying it doesn't run of your PC or your PC is too slow spec to run it.

Be sure to use the Norton Removal Tool to uninstall it, otherwise it will not uninstall fully and will interfere with your new AV Software.

Do you have the latest version 2 or version 1? If you have version 1 contact them via tech support and say you want to be upgraded. That's what I did and didn't cost a penny! Far better than version 1!

Both versions are worth steering clear of to be honest Tom, free or not.

I have to disagree, Dave. I have used Norton for years now (since about 2002), and have never had any problem with it. I don't find it system hungry or anything. Does the job, stops and spots nasties and symantec support, for me, has always been great.

Each to there own tom, All i can say is i paid for Norton and Mcafee since 2003 up until 2007, and il never go back to paying for bloated software with a pretty theme, I personally found Norton slowed me down along with pretty much every other Norton user i know, Mcafee on the other hand was actually pretty good, did keep me protected for a year or two but only protected me in one area, as the free programs I've used for almost a year has and is currently protecting me in all areas, this has been double checked by online scanners and friends who I've personally asked to send me a few "nasties", but as I've said each to his own, as long as you've tried both Norton and the free protection that Evil fantasys thread offers you and is not saying Norton is better because you've paid for it.
