Default Norton 360 v2...having some teething problems

Hi there, I recently installed Norton 360 v2 onto 2 different computers, 1 very old one, and one very new one, both computers have been running extremely slow ever since, any ideas why this might be?

Norton is a resource hog and will only slow your comp down, that is why I would say

Or it could be a software conflict
What spec is your new comp and what other programs do you have installed?

The new computer isn't mine, it's a friends so I can't tell you much about that, I am also pretty useless with computers, but the computer was basically unused, so the only programs installed on that one are the standard ones that come with Windows XP.

Norton kills old PCs, they just don't have the power to run an overly resource hungry AV. It slows down even the most powerful machines, it is also massivly buggy and not all that at protecting you.

Seriously, take it off and use one of the many, better free AVs out there, Norton is crap and everyone not on back handers in the trade will tell you the same.

To completely remove Norton/Symantec go to add remove programs and uninstall anything with Norton, Symantec or Live Update in the name.

Download the Norton Removal Tool (SymNRT) to your Desktop.

Once downloaded please close ALL open browsers, also save any work because this may require a restart.
  • Go to your desktop and double click on the removal tool and then click Setup.
  • Once open Click Next
  • Accept the license agreement and click Next
  • Type in the letters/numbers that you see into the text box then click Next.
  • Then click Next and the tool will start running.
  • Once finished restart the PC and run the tool again to ensure everything has been removed.

----------

Next:

Download one of the free antivirus programs listed below. Important: Uninstall any old/outdated antivirus program(s), including Security Suites before upgrading or replacing with a new one.
Install the new antivirus and make sure it is updated.
