Right, my norton button which is located at the bottom right hand corner of my screen appears to have an Exclamation mark which an orange circle around it. So i clicked on it to see wat the problem is, and it says i have a weak password. I dont want 2 have a password on my laptop so how do i stop it alerting me all the time.

Ive gone to the tab called " Task & Settings ", then Change advanced settings " then went to " Undo * Exclude " then i went onto the tab called "Automatic tasks" and unticked the weak password check then i just clciked closed but the exclamation mark is still there. So i restared my laptop and it still hasnt gone back to the White tick with the Green circle around it.

Why ? lol

Best advice is remove Norton and replace it with one of the many free anti-viruses.

Norton is resource hungry, buggy, rubbish.

To be honest, i would take Dave's advice. In our house we had Norton on all four of our PCs. I however came onto these forums to get some advice about something one day and found that a lot of people were complaining about Norton.

Following the advice of just about every expert on here I removed it and it was the best performance boost my computer has ever had. I could easily compare it to an increase in RAM from 1 to 2 GBs! Removing Norton got rid of all the problems and sluggish start-up times. Now I use Avast! and and have not had any problem with Viruses or malware of any kind. They're easy to update, lightweight and much better on the whole and i think most experts on here (not that i am one myself) will agree with me.

Hi Demtschuk,

Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team responding to your posting. It appears that you have Norton 360 version 1.0 installed and not Norton AntiVirus 2008.

The steps that you took to disable the "Weak Password Check" in Norton 360 were the correct steps. When you clicked the "Close" button, you may have also closed the main Norton 360 window.

The area where you are seeing the Norton icon is called the Windows Taskbar. If the icon is displaying a red x, it is notifying you that Norton 360 has detected other issues that need to be resolved.

Double-click on the icon to bring up the main Norton 360 window and then click on the "Fix" button to resolve the issues.

If issues persist, click on the "Tasks and Settings" link and then click "Check for Updates," which will launch LiveUpdate and download and install the latest program and definition files for you.

Let me know if you need further assistance with Norton 360.

Thank you,
Mike
