I recently purchased a new laptop with Vista on it. I bought a Norton AV 2007 which I need to upgrade on the Web to make it Vista compatible. The problem is Live update will not work. I have tried to uninstall Live Update and Norton itself but it keeps telling me Live update is running in the background and I should wait for it to finish etc I think the error is LU 1825. I have waited the 1 hour Norton recommends before trying to run LU again but it has not worked.Is there any other way other than uninstall programs I can use to delete it and start over, my virus definitions are 1 month out of date. I am actually thinking of loading Windows XP cos I am fed up. Somebody help. Thanks

chances are norton is already on there .uninstall one on there and start again .make sure you remove it from add and remove programs as well.

I am sorry to have to tell you this! but Vista is riddled with problems at the moment, recomend you go back to X-P. until at least the end of the year.

The problem is not your operating system. It's that lousy Norton AV syetem. I wasn't long getting that off , by UNINSTALLING completely, no matter what the program tries to tell you. It will resist being uninstalled, but just ignore it. That one & McAfee are just plain junk, and try to hinder everything you try to do.
