Hi again,
I've just tried to update my AVG and it took three attempts.
It initially told me that I didn't have enough 'free memory'.
Is this relevant?
Probably not, but I've reached the 'clutching at straws' time !!
Regards,

Slime.

Have you done disk cleanup and a defrag lately?

Hi,
just done a disc cleanup & I'm now doing a de-frag.
I currently have 83% free space on my HDD.
De-frag may take forever, will report back as soon as,
Can I use my PC during a de-frag ??

Forgot to mention, I tried to run Kaspersky this afternoon but it kept failing at the update stage which prevented me from trying to scan.
Don't know the relevance of that, maybe none?

Hi evilfantasy,
de-frag is complete...........no change !!
I'm sure my PC is getting slower, especially when opening & closing applications.
If I try to open two applications it seems to take forever.
Any thoughts,
many thanks,

Slime.

Can you see anything in Task Manager that is using a lot of resources?

Hi,
Task Manager is a bit of an unknown to me.
Under the Processes tab CPU usage shows 'System Idle Process @ 98.
Nothing else seems to go above 02.
Under the Performance tab it lists three values under the heading of 'Totals'.
Handles...11288 (varying a bit),
Threads.......509 (Varying also),
Processes...40. (When I had four progs open, but none running).
Kaspersky Scan still stops at 7% although Task Manager still lists it as Running & Java Console pops up at start of scan. I close it.
Sorry to bug you with info that may be irrelevant........or is it?
In anticipation,

Slime.

P.S. Any point doing another HJT log ?

Sorry evilfantasy,
more information.
Shut down.........Re-start has just taken 12 minutes.
It took 2 minutes to open Internet Explorer.
Got 4 messages flashed up from Resident Shield about spyware, but they came & went before I could read them properly !!

Slime.
