Hi there,Im new to the forum,I feel this is my last chance of saviour!!! Im not really that clever on a PC so im hoping someone who is can help me!! For a few months now I keep getting lots of pop ups,adverts and windows installer popping up when im surfing the web!! I have tried everything to get rid of them,mcafee,avg,spybot,super antispy the list goes on!! Even had a guy round to look but to no avail!!! They are really starting to get on my nerves,so much so I am thinking of a new PC,but could really do without spending the money when Im sure someone out there can help!! So im hoping someone can!! Step 1:

[FONT=Tahoma]First download AVG Anti-Spyware from HERE and save that file to your desktop.
This is a 30 day trial of the program. After the trial period, the scanner will continue to work, and you will still be able to receive updates; however, certain advanced setting will no longer be available unless purchsased

1. Once you have downloaded AVG Anti-Spyware, locate the icon on the desktop and double-click it to launch the set up program.
2. Once the setup is complete you will need run AVG Anti-Spyware and update the definition files.
3. On the main screen select the icon "Update" then select the "Update now" link.
   • Next select the "Start Update" button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
4. Once the update has completed select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
5. Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine".
6. Under "Reports"
   • Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
   • Un-Select "Only if threats were found"

Close AVG Anti-Spyware, Do Not run a scan just yet, we will shortly.

1. Reboot your computer into SafeMode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight SafeMode then hit enter.
   IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while AVG Anti-Spyware is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning proccess:
2. Lauch AVG Anti-Spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
3. Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab then click on "Complete System Scan".
4. AVG Anti-Spyware will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
   Once the scan is complete do the following:
5. If you have any infections you will prompted, then select "Apply all actions"
6. Next select the "Reports" icon at the top.
7. Select the "Save report as" button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system (make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important).
8. Close AVG Anti-Spyware and reboot your system back into Normal Mode and post the results of the AVG Anti-Spyware report scan as well as a new hjt log.

Step 2:

· Click here to download HJThis.exe
· Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
· Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
· By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
· Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialogue.
· Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
· Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
· At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
· Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
· Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
· Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
· DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Please post the results of both the AVG log and the new hjt log, and we can see what we're dealing with here.[/FONT]

OK, done that!! The AVG found 23 tracking cookies,I did the "apply all actions", then clicked "Report" but there was no report to save???? As for the HJTHIS Here it is:

hey jacob, welcome to the forum...:)

first off, go to start > run > appwiz.cpl and remove everything that says 'mywebsearch'. Next, right click on start, go to explore, on the top click tools > folder options > view tab > tick the radio button next to 'show hidden files and folders' > click ok > go to 'program files' > delete everything that says mywebsearch. Next, on to the hjt log.

close all windows (may want to print this out), start hijackthis, click 'perform system scan only', place a tick next to the following and click 'fix checked':

What it is Jim ok is that the mods are all volunteers and don't get paid.
Valis is the only one qualified to offer advice on HJT logs and seeing as he's american you have to consider the time factor between us and them.
I can't and won't offer advice to you that could be wrong with regard to HJT.
I know it's a bind but all I can suggest is that you please be patient.
