Default Removing iedefender

I need some help removing iedefender from my computer, I was given this link at a music site http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/foru...p/t114240.html everything they describe is happening and I am even having trouble typing this because the fake crap keeps popping up every few seconds. As I said I am not very good with computers so fdollowing those instructions is gonna be hard enough but that isn't even the real problem (yet) I can't even get started with trying to remove it because when I go to the Add Or Remove iedefender is not even shown there, pretty hard to remove something when it's not there lol anyway if anyone can help me out with any of this I would greatly appreaciate it!

Welcome to TCF.

Lets see what we can do.

Please see Guide For Attaching Logs To A Post

Next:
1. Please download Combofix by sUBs. Place it on your Desktop. combofix.exe
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts. Enter 1 and press enter at the prompt.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Attach that log in your next reply.
Combofix will create a backup to anything removed in C:\qoovox

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Next post, please attach the combofix log and tell me how things are now.

What threat? I don't see where the deletion is.

I will be requesting logs at nearly every step we take, You can not alter any of them as I am sure the combofix log has been. I need to see where and what was found or it is impossible to help.

* Click Start
* Go to Control Panel
* Double-click on the Add or Remove Programs icon.
* Find the entry for IE Defender click on it and choose to uninstall the program.
* Follow the prompts to uninstall the program, but do not allow it to reboot the computer if it asks.
* When it has completed uninstalling close Add or Remove Programs and your Control Panel.

===

* Click on Start and then select the Run.
* Copy and paste this > C:\Program Files\ in the open box and then press the OK button.
* When the folder appears, if it says These files are hidden, click on the Show the contents of this folder option.
* When the C:\Program Files\ folder opens, look through the list of folders for IE Defender right-click on it and choose Delete. (don't worry if it is not there)
* Download and Install and run CCleaner. (Crap Cleaner)
Be sure to un-check the Install Yahoo! Toolbar button during installation to avoid the unnecessary installation of the Yahoo! Toolbar.
* Reboot the PC

===

Download HijackThis to your desktop.
Double-click on the file you just downloaded.
Click on the "Install" button to install.
It will by default install to the directory - C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis
Please do not change the default install location.
Upon install, HijackThis should open for you.

Next click on the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button.
HijackThis will scan and then a log will open in notepad.
In the top left of the notepad window click "File" > "Save As" name it hijackthis and then save it to the Desktop.
Please save the log as a text (.txt) file.
In your post, add the log as an Attachment.
* Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
** Don't use the Analyse This button. It's findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.

Thats the thing though, I can't even start doing any of that because when I go to the add or remove section IE Defender is nowhere to be found for some reason

Then follow the rest of the steps.

I need to see the logs I request, that will show me where the problems are.

This morning my AVG did a scan and said it found and fixed one threat, at first everything was still not working but I just got home from work and everything seems to be working just fine. No more fake pop ups and google doesn't show the adult images any more. if anything starts up again I'll come back and try again
