Default Rootkits - What Are They?

Quote:
Rootkits allow you to find the source of a virus on your computer I think.
Rootkits are some of the worst malware you can deal with. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rootkit

Anyone recommending you install a rootkit for fun is plain crazy. Even analysing the logs is not easy as it may sound, some gmer logs can be complicated and can be easily misunderstood if you do not know what you are looking for. If you are looking to learn about malware then try one of the free malware schools, one is listed in the above post by evilfantasy.

Default Rootkits - What Are They?

I was just checking free online computer courses and happen to find that. That is why I posted it here it did not sound right to me. And I was not sure what they would do if downloaded . So I came to the place I knew someone would tell me right from wrong. I was looking for more of web design or programing courses.
Found may others that do not ask you to download anything unsafe.

You did right to query it! Its very strange that they actually encoruage this type of behaviour.

As for other courses im sure there are plenty knocking about, there are also plenty of decent sites for self learning html/programming too. Im sure there are a few suggestions that people could put forward for you for specific languages. For HTML/CSS a good starting point is W3Schools

sjb007 Please delete this web site after you read the post. the place is called www.homeandlearn.co.uk . Under the begginers programs they have a section on rootkits what they are and do this is where you will find the part that "we highty recommend you get your pc checked for rootkits. and they give five different ones they ask that you pick three and download them. If I read it right.

From what I see the page is clear, it advises on what a rootkit is and and points to anti-rootkit tools, there is nothing stating to install them.
