Ive got my new computer, my old computer, a switch and two short straight cables. Im transferring 4GB of music from my old comp to my new one and its saying 120mins! How is it when it should be going up to 100Mbps? Ant...

100mbps = 100 megabits per second.

100 megabits = 1024 megabytes. So 1 megabyte a second. 4000 seconds = 66 minutes. As you copy the machine will lag due to being online and things going in the background an many other factors. So 120mins is not that off. My System: Hybr!d

Has the old PC got a 10 or a 100 mbps card?
Also things like firewalls can slow it down along with anti-virus scanners. Turn them off while doing this. |

Anyway... What network card is in the old PC? Have you tried my other suggestions. |

Also Windows's time guides are normally way off, have you actually timed it?
