That's really odd. Is he using the Desktop shortcut to run ISeeYouXP or running ISeeYouXP.bat directly from the ISeeYouXP folder?

I have done both! When I use the .bat on the desktop, it pulls up the normal black CMD window; when I use the .bat from the C Drive folder, it pulls up my 'customized' CMD window. I don't know if that is any help.

I'm not sure what your 'Customized' command is.

Go ahead and delete those files/folders.

Download DDS by sUBs and save it to your desktop. Alternate DDS download link

Vista users right click on dds and select Run as administrator (you will receive a UAC prompt, please allow it)

* XP users Double click on dds to run it.
* If your antivirus or firewall try to block DDS then please allow it to run.
* When finished DDS will open two (2) logs.

1) DDS.txt
2) Attach.txt

* Save both logs to your desktop.
* Please copy and paste the entire contents of both logs in your next reply.

Note: DDS will instruct you to post the Attach.txt log as an attachment.
Please just post it as you would any other log by copy and pasting it into the reply.

This is extremely frustrating. I am unable to run DDS because I keep getting the "xxxx is not recognized a internal external or batch blah blah blah" I did some searching around and found out that there must be some sort of path in my environment variables; I'm not quite sure what to do with that, but I think that this may be the reason I can't run ISeeYouXP either. I don't think it is the program that is the problem, but rather the path setting not being correct.

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/imgassofix.htm

Download imgeditor.zip(~21K) and look at section Miscellaneous - Restore the image file associations to defaults. Select the appropriate file type for which you want to repair the association, and click Repair associations. This utility is intended for Windows XP systems only.

Not quite sure what to do with that; I just checked all the file types. After, I tried DDS again with no luck.

It is to check your file associations.

There is clearly some sort of error with the path in the environment variables based off what I have read online, but no where does it state how to go about fixing it. Is there any program we can use that is out of CMD to do whatever it is that needs to be done?

Try a sfc /scannow.

  • Click on Start > Run and type sfc /scannow then press Enter (note the space between scf and /scannow)
    • Let this run undisturbed until the window with the blue progress bar goes away
SFC - Which stands for System File Checker, retrieves the correct version of the file from %Systemroot%\System32\Dllcache or the Windows installation source files, and then replaces the incorrect file.
