A while back (few months) i needed to get into my vista laptop so i think i downloaded ophcrack on my XP desktop and burnt it to a cd for the laptop.

Then the other day when running a scan on my XP desktop my A.V. has found a "potentially unwanted programme" which it cant remove only dismantle, this is called...... PWCrack-Ophcrack.........it dismantled it.

Do i have a problem??

Since the way Ophcrack works is similar to that of malware many scanners will flag it as malicious or PUP (potentially unwanted program). It's safe. Antivirus can't tell the difference in "good" and 'bad" and it is just doing it's job in reporting something it sees as suspicious.

I had a program tell me I had cracked software on my computer. It was flagging the ophcrack link in my bookmarks because it has crack in the name.

That's stupid.

You could easily have a link to say a video on youtube with crack in the name, like
"How to crack an egg like a professianal chef"
"How to crack an egg vertically - it's not impossible!"
"Don't believe people who say it's not, because it IS impossible to crack an egg vertically!"

I could go on...
