I'm doing a project for school about anitvirus and malware removal in general. I need some extra data so i came to computer juice because I've used it before and everyone here knows what they are talking about. So in general just tell me what you use to protect your computer, anitvirus firewalls malware removal tools and anything else you do to keep your computer safe and if you ever had any troubles with your setups and how you fixed it. Also say if I can use your statements or not just in case.

Alwil Avast Antivirus Home Edition
Routers stock Firewall (With some Forwarded Ports and DMZ)
Malware Bytes Anti Malware Removal Tool

That's just about it I think, unless I have an actual problem then I might download something more specific to what I need, like ComboFix for example, but I've needed it so rarely that I don't bother with it on my PC all the time.

EDIT:
And I guess you could say WinPatrol might count on this, occasionaly something malicious might try to run something on bootup, with WinPatrol I can just say no ta And then of course try to delete the offending program..

I use Avast! (the free edition). I tried Comodo (firewall and AV) but it kept crashing my COD (Call Of Duty). Before THAT I used a version of McAfee that came from my provider (comcast) it also crashed out when in game and was difficult to use. Before THAT lol I used a Norton Security Suite 2008 that I paid for. It sucks. Took up WAY too many resources and really was not compatible with my Vista64. Norton caused numerous crashes, and would not "learn" IE: I had to give permission to the same action over and over despite checking the "remember this dicision" box. I would have given it away but I just don't hate anyone enough to give it to them lol.

I need a firewall but haven't decided on one yet so I am using the default MS firewall. i also let Defender run, but i turned off the UAC.

I always have Winpatrol and Spybot running as well.

If I suspect I have a problem despite running all that stuff, I update and download HijackThis and post the logs here for one of the three experts to examine.

The people from Panda saw it and responded to Hops' problem. It is an excellent example of great customer service, especially since Hop was rather hostile to them at times lol. They however stuck it out until the bitter end. If I were to buy an AV, it would almost certainly BE Panda, based on that thread alone.

Feel free to use any of this post and good luck on your project.

I use Common Sense 2009 but that's more because I've had extensive experience removing spyware and malware if I do get myself into trouble.
