hi im new to this so forgive me if i dont provide all the necessary information, i probably just dont know what to provide, but my desktop is running windows xp professional, and i have nortons anti-virus corporate edition, and my computer has gone bonkers, i get a pop up system antivirus xp2008 doing some scan and its showing me over 2400 infections....trying to run the norton to remove infections but its unresponsive.....am i better off just wiping out the computer and starting from scratch?

Try taking a look at this thread, follow the steps through, you might be able to get rid of those without having to wipe, however I would recommend removing Norton all together and move to a free anti-Virus like Avast.

Yea, you should look at the thread thingie posted. AntiVirus xp2008 is a virus itself, my sister had it on her laptop once, and it got removed, so don't worry, the guys here are really good at this stuff.
