| Similar to a recent post: http://www.thecomputerforums.co.uk/f...-please-11553/ AVG alerted me that my laptop had been infected by the following which were moved into AVG's virus vault: On 12/20 these occured: 1. C:\WINDOWS\system32\capesnpne.dll - Virus identified Obfustat.ACRV 2. C:\WINDOWS\system32\ciodmc.dll - Trojan Horse BHO.CVX 3. C:\DOCUME~1\OWNER\LOCALS~1\Temp\regtdii.exe - Trojan Horse SHeur.AFRE 4. C:\DOCUME~1\OWNER\LOCALS~1\Temp\regtdiw.exe - Trojan Horse Generic9.ABHD On 12/22 these occured: 1. C:\WINDOWS\system32\dsoundb.dll - Virus identified Obfustat.ADGO 2. C:\WINDOWS\system32\dsoundb.dll.bak - Virus identified Obfustat.ADGO And today when moving my work files over to an external harddrive (D:\) I received this: 1. D:\WDSync_v6_2_038.exe - Trojan Horse SHeur.AHFT My computer takes forever to boot now and I no longer have Internet connectivity. I'm not terribly technical, but can follow most instructions. I started following down the path of the thread mentioned above when I discovered I was unable to log in to my account in Safe Mode to run SDFix (it's a work computer, though I have most admin rights, not sure that has anything to do with it). Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated. I guess my other option is to have my sys admin rebuild the system, but being a remote employee I'd rather avoid the hassle of shipping laptop around if I can. | OK, I followed instructions on the post you referenced as best I could. Since my laptop won't connect to the Internet I wasn't able to run the online scanner in step 4 and I assume the program definitions for SUPERAntiSpyware were not updated due to lack of connectivity (I'm downloading programs from desktop computer to SD card then moving them to laptop). Here are the two log files I managed to get. | I don't see any malware in the logs that would block your internet access. We can try a few things. 1.) Download Winsockfix from HERE. Don't run it yet. ---------- Open HijackThis and select Do a system scan only then place a check mark next to: O2 - BHO: (no name) - {809E8A5A-14AA-4A92-9688-2A3702BF3EEE} - c:\windows\system32\dsoundb.dll (file missing) O16 - DPF: {BB8B9052-8D27-45D4-B79F-84946D41EBF7} (Office Live Meeting Presentation-Upload Control) - https://fwd120.livemeeting.com/etc/p...oadControl.cab O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: Domain = rsmart.com O17 - HKLM\Software\..\Telephony: DomainName = rsmart.com O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: Domain = rsmart.com O20 - Winlogon Notify: ztqolhwf - dsoundb.dll (file missing) Close all windows except for HijackThis and click Fix checked ---------- 2.) Run WinsockFix.exe. 3.) Click the Fix button. Reboot your system and see if you can access the net. |

| I followed your instructions and still no luck. I was unable to send/receive packets over a wired or wireless network connection. There was some progress in that I was able to connect to my wireless network (something that wasn't happening yesterday), but zero packets flowed in either direction. I ran another HijackThis log and noticed something curious and new: O10 - Unknown file in Winsock LSP: c:\windows\system32\nwprovau.dll Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 2:10:25 PM, on 12/28/2007 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16574) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\WLTRYSVC.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\bcmwltry.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe c:\program files\common files\logitech\lvmvfm\LVPrcSrv.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\Apoint\Apoint.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\hkcmd.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxsrvc.exe C:\Program Files\Apoint\HidFind.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxpers.exe C:\Program Files\Apoint\Apntex.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\WLTRAY.exe C:\WINDOWS\stsystra.exe C:\Program Files\Wave Systems Corp\Services Manager\DocMgr\bin\docmgr.exe C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD\DVDLauncher.exe C:\Program Files\Dell\QuickSet\quickset.exe C:\Program Files\Google\Google Desktop Search\GoogleDesktop.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\DLA\DLACTRLW.EXE C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe C:\Program Files\Google\Google Desktop Search\GoogleDesktop.exe C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTTask.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\LVCOMSX.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgamsvr.exe C:\Program Files\Logitech\Video\CameraAssistant.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ElkCtrl.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgcc.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03\bin\jusched.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgupsvc.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgemc.exe C:\Program Files\Dell Support\DSAgnt.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\wcescomm.exe C:\Program Files\X-Lite\X-Lite.exe C:\Program Files\SUPERAntiSpyware\SUPERAntiSpyware.exe C:\Program Files\Wave Systems Corp\Common\DataServer.exe C:\PROGRA~1\MI3AA1~1\rapimgr.exe C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\reader_sl.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7DEBUG\MDM.EXE C:\Program Files\Dell\QuickSet\NICCONFIGSVC.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Skype\Plugin Manager\SkypePM.exe C:\Program Files\Toshiba\Bluetooth Toshiba Stack\TosBtMng.exe C:\Program Files\Digital Line Detect\DLG.exe C:\Program Files\Wave Systems Corp\Services Manager\Secure Update\AutoUpdate.exe C:\Program Files\Toshiba\Bluetooth Toshiba Stack\TosA2dp.exe C:\Program Files\Toshiba\Bluetooth Toshiba Stack\TosBtHid.exe C:\Program Files\Toshiba\Bluetooth Toshiba Stack\TosBtHsp.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuauclt.exe C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe R1 - | Open HijackThis and select Do a system scan only then place a check mark next to: O4 - Global Startup: Bluetooth Manager.lnk = ? O4 - Global Startup: Digital Line Detect.lnk = ? Close all windows except for HijackThis and click Fix checked ---------- Download LSP-Fix.exe This is a pretty straight forward program. If you need to read up on it the go here > http://cexx.org/lspfix.txt Let me know if it fixes the connection. Is there any way X-Lite could be blocking the connection? | I've been running X-Lite for over a year without any problem, though I guess malware could get to it somehow. No connection problems until I got infected and in fact it didn't affect my connection (or laptop for that matter) until a couple days later after I rebooted (instead of letting laptop go into sleep mode). I could uninstall X-lite as I really don't need the softphone on my laptop. I'll work on your suggestions above now and see how that goes. Thanks for your efforts. |

| I am just not fammiliar with X-Lite so thought I would bring it up. Have you tried using the reset button on the router? Lets try running this also. Please download Combofix by sUBs from either here or here Save Combofix.exe to your your Desktop. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts. (from the keyboard select 1 and press enter) When finished, it will produce a log for you. Add that log in your next reply. Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause your computer to stall |
