I have a bit of a puzzle. I use EZ Antivirus and have always found it to be reliable. However, since reinstalling windows I appear to have an issue. Upon start up my Real Time protection is turned off and cannot be reinstated. If I restart it is fine. I have had 3 on line live chats with customer support and they have given me every possible solution, but it's still the same. I checked my running processes and found an unidentifiable one at start up. It was blank! Having deleted it I assumed all would be well. It is still the same. I use Ez antivirus, Prevx1, Spybot and Ad Aware. I am thinking that there is a virus of some description running in the background that I cannot find.

Any Ideas? Please note that this is only occurring at the intial start up, but having to reboot everytime is becoming quite annoying!!

All help greatfully recieved,

Keith.

This is common, I'm always working on computers with Norton where its permanently disabled and cannot be enabled. Lots of Av's have bugs like this.

I use Avast and it always detects and removes any problems with ease, when it some cases I have found other Av's to detect stuff and have problems removing it. It has also never disabled itself on me ever.

I'd recommend installing it and running a scan, its free.

Ya man, all updated to the newest version, it just tells me that 'an error has occured while tried to secure my system' . Really puzzles me tho why it only does it at the initial start up.

Will do dave, cheers.

Just uninstall and replace mate, with free AV's around now that are very good I just don't waste time anymore finding out whats up when a customers AV is doing something weird.

Will do when me subscription is up but I'm paid up till november!! I'm just downloading the avast 1 so if I like it I may just uninstall EZ and see how it goes.

Can you recommend a good package? Not bothered about paying, but don't want my system slowing down! My brother uses Mcaffe and I cannot believe how it slugs his system!!!

Paid up or not its not working so junk it mate, you have nothing to lose.

Mcafee and Norton are both shit and slow you PC down.

Like I said Avast is free and I use it religiously, even if the paid ones were free I'd still use it.

Paid isn't always better.

Like I say to everyone is Av's are like cars, 10 years ago just because skoda could make cars doesn't mean they are any good.

If you need a firewall get Commodo, it's free too.

Thats quality guys. Thanx. Ran the Avast ( twice ) and it found nothing. Does the Avast give real time protection? Only thing I found was that the interface is a little tricky to use at first.

If I install comodo should I remove the windows firewall?
