Still the same I'm afraid. Tried restore twice with diff. dates plus getting online. No luck with either. Just goes onto pop up box which says Blue Band (at top says) SmartBridge Alerts:BTHelpNotifier.exe - Entry Point Not Found The actual message says "The procedure entry point GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL." If you want to call it a day, I will understand ! Thanks, Paul

BTHelpNotifier.exe is your BT Broadband. You might need to call them and see if they can reset your connection from their end.

Thanks Evil I'm a little confused over this aspect, as I have the laptop which is obviously up and running - via BT - but you say that BT will still need to be contacted to reset the faulty desktop, right? By the way, I have a Linksys router to get the signal to the laptop. Hope that info doesn't cloud the situation! Thanks, Paul

| You may try resetting the router. Just unplug it for 10 seconds and plug it back in. Might also try this.

For EVILFANTASY Been away for a few days but on my return, had a chat with Linksys people. Finally, problem resolved - having done something about BTHelpNotifier.exe. Anyway, many thanks for your considerable help. Paul
