Doing the scans now, however I'm only able to run in safe mode with networking enabled at the moment so I'm not totally sure if all the programs run in safe mode. We'll see though...

Try running the next one in Normal Mode. They are more effective that way.

I would if I could but it won't boot up on normal mode at the moment, whenever I do it, I log in and it goes to that Vista welcome screen and hangs there for hours, so the only way i can log onto my computer is in safe mode unfortunately =(

Try running the next one in Normal Mode.

If not then that's OK for now but please try.

I managed to finally get access to a normal reboot and am currently running the SAS scan...however, its taken 2 hours now and it seems to be scanning the same hundred or so files again and again yet counting them as new files, I find this a little curious? It's still running but when I checked just now it was still doing the same files...

Any advice really gratefully received

Unfortunately since the last reboot I've been forced back into safe mode again =( What happened was that a couple of days ago my computer froze to a blank screen and ended up showing an error message that said 'Logon process has failed to create the security options dialog. Failure - Security Options'.

It continued doing this, booting and then getting really slow as soon as I tried to run a program, then freezing midway through the startup processes, then not even getting past the Vista Welcome screen. So i totally uninstalled the rubbish Norton Internet Security and installed Avast! and it did a boot scan and found this rootkit in a few files, but couldn't do anything about them, whether I told it to remove or quarantine them (I did this scan twice to check).

And then I found this forum...anyway, hopefully the scan logs help and my story makes sense =)
