Default Windows Re-install

Sucess

Delete The Avenger and any of it's logs, we are done with them.

Open CCleaner and please do this first. Click on the Options icon at the left side of the window, then click on Advanced and uncheck Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours.
Now run CCleaner.

Check out Keeping Yourself safe On The Web for tips and free tools to keep you safe in the future.

Let me know how things are now.

Whoops, I forgot Combofix. You can keep Hijackthis or uninstall it. MalwareBytes is free so it is good to have and run now and then.

Uninstall ComboFix

Click Start then Run and enter everything from the Code box below into the run box and then click OK.
Code:
"%userprofile%\Desktop\cf" /u

Note:
The space between the cf" and the /u must be there.

The above procedure will
  • Delete ComboFix and its associated files and folders.
  • Reset the clock settings.
  • Hide file extensions, if required.
  • Hide System/Hidden files, if required.
  • Set a new, clean Restore Point.

Default Windows Re-install

i posted this a couple of posts back.............

while i am waiting for combofix to scan i would like to mention a couple of other things to see if you have a solution for.....one of them is that when i open IE it opens, but it is a very small box (restored down) and i have to click the maximize box for it to go full screen......the other problem is that in my add/remove programs window if i scroll down starting at about the R's on the list there is an open space with thick black vertical bars...this space is pretty long as it takes awhile to scroll to the next program on the list....and there are also like 30 windows updates in the add/remove window....any input is appreciated.

Default Windows Re-install

Open add/remove programs and in the top of the screen uncheck Show updates.

Reset Web Settings

Note for IE 7 users:

Select Internet Options, then the Advanced Tab and then the Reset button under Reset Internet Explorer Settings. To Reset Web Settings:
  • Right click on your desktop Internet Explorer icon and select Properties.
  • Click the Programs tab and then click Reset Web Settings.
  • Now go back to the General tab and re-set your home page address to something useful like www.computer-juice.com
  • Click Apply.
  • Next click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all offline content.
  • Click OK > OK
If that doesn't help try running Dial a fix.

Download Dial-a-Fix by djlizard, save it to the desktop then extract it to it's own folder.
  • Open the folder and run Dial-a-fix.exe
  • 2 windows will open. Close the one in the background labled Restrictive Policies
  • On the main window, check the box in section 4, labled SSL/HTTPS/Cryptography. The 4 boxes under it should be pre-checked
  • Check all boxes in Section 5, labled Registration Center.
  • Click Go
  • OK any error messages if received, but write them down and post them here.
  • Restart the computer when done
Let me know if this helped.
