 Can't open OE6

For no obvious reason, outlook express (6) will not fully open. It starts with the blue Oulook Express 6 opening page but goes no further. Ctrl Alt Del produces Msimm not responding. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling and repairing but the result is still the same....

Thanks, guys, unfortunately I am running 98SE so don't have system or windows restore. One thing I noticed is that after uninstalling OE, the shortcut was still on the desktop so I clicked it and OE5 opened - could there be a conflict here? (if so, of course, why did it ever work?).
I will also investigate the "Elder Geek" help to see if it applies to 98SE. |

Can't open OE6
It has mysteriously started working again (I haven't knowingly done anything to cause this) but unfortunately, in the process it has disappeared three weeks of received emails which I assume are now irretrievably gone. Could this have happened in the re-installation? I thought data was untouched by this process, only the application being re-installed?
