[FONT='Times','serif']Sometimes I delete e-mails in my inbox by accident. As my e-mail is an open internet account (gmail, hotmail etc.) the deleted e-mails are unretrievable. Is there any way, I can develop a tool that can help me in getting back the emails I delete?

You don't say whether you retrieve the emails via a web browser or via Thunderbird/Outlook Express.

Anyway, for gmail there is a simple solution. Create a second gmail account. On the first account set up email forwarding to the second account but keeping copies on the first. (Settings then Forwarding and POP.)

Now you have a backup of all your emails.

Ok -thanks. It is via web-browser! but still, it must be possible to develop a tool that enables me to get them back once I have deleted (instead of back-up)?

In gmail you should be going through a 2 stage process. You delete an email and it goes to the deleted items. You then have to delete it forever from there. Is that not enough???

Well, seemingly yes. Sometimes you just get unlucky. But there are no other options than backing up, I assume from your answers (Im a computer noob...)?

he's not saying your a noob im sure :)

im sure that the deleted emails go into the trash can for atleast 3 or 5 days, i dont know any other software as you asked that you can incorporate into this to backup emails that have been deleted and then deleted again from trash can

it would take up too much space backing up files three times in my opinion

i'd suggest just taking abit of care and then if your not sure, having a quick scan through your trash can, if you want anything back

Searching through trash cans can be looked down on so keep it to a minimal :)

If you retrieve your email using Firefox you can leave a copy on the server and have a copy on each PC you use to retrieve mail, but that is just another form of backup I suppose.

I know the problem, you get hundreds of junk emails on these accounts and it is natural to hit All then Delete without checking them all. I do it all the time, I could be missing important emails but I can't be bothered to search through all that stuff in the Junk folder. None of that ever gets forwarded to my real email account so once it's gone, it's gone!

As far as I know the only backup gmail does is to the Deleted folder.
