Default Help pls

Hello,

I recently clicked on a contact us button on a website to email a question. I have previously set up windows mail and joined it to my service providers email account they had given me. I had assumed this program was my default computer email software. However when i clicked on this link outlook express (which i have not set up) opened. Is this because the site only allows emails from outlook express or is outlook express configured as the default email program on my computer? I tried to go into the options tab on windows mail where there is an option to make the program the default email program for the computer but it was whited out and i was not able to select the option to do that. can anyone enlighten me pls sorry for my ignorance! ta
