Hi folks. I'm new to this site and for a month I've been terying to find some help with a problem.
I have "Windows Vista Home Edition" and "IE 7" on a Dell Studio Computer. When I receive a link to a page whether it be "YouTube" or from any othersight sent to me on "Windows Mail", it will not open unless I first open Internet Explorer which is my "Google page". I have been told to go to "Choose the programs that "Windows uses by default" to correct it. I have had no luck Any suggestions?
Thanks, ptfitzy

Open Internet Explorer, go to the 'Tools' Menu and click on 'Internet Options', click on the 'Program's tab and make sure Internet Explorer is set as the default browser.

It shows "Internet Explorer is the Default web browser".
Next to it is a grayed out box saying "Make Default".
Below is a box unchecked. Could it be in "Manage add ons" or something not checked in the "Advanced Tab"?

OK ... go to Control Panel, open "Default Programs" and click on 'Set Your Default Programs'. Click on 'Internet Explorer' and click on 'Choose Defaults for this Program' ... Make sure all the boxes are ticked up, then click on 'Save'

No. I'm sorry. That did not work either.

OK ... go back to Control Panel/Default Programs, click on "Associate a file type or protocol with a specific program", scroll down the list for .htm and .html.
Check that the associated program in the "Description" column is set to Internet Explorer .... if not, click on the "Change Program" button and make the change.

Also .... scroll to the bottom of the same list to the section headed "Protocols" and make sure MAILTO is set for Windows Mail .... this can sometimes make a difference.
