I don't think Hotmail supports using a third party email client anymore.

bull... thats why when i tried outlook it said Hotmail no longer allows acess through Outlook, I didnt realise it was none at all..... that sucks.

Is it worth getting a pop supporting email for the sake of using thunderbird instead of being webbased?

I know your post is a couple years old, but if you are still interested in setting up Thunderbird for Hotmail, the instructions are at the following link -

Thanks, but sorted it in other ways now.

Windows Live was released around that time which I much prefered to Windows Mail and Outlook.

I believe though it is still impossible to recieve hotmail messages on your phone as Windows still refuse to use either IMAP or POP3?

That is, of course, without using a second "collector" account that does support IMAP or POP3?

outlook supports hotmail now with a connector addon, i believe you can set it up to work with mobile as well. even though you use windows live, i used to use it, but have moved to outlook and find it easier, but heyy, thats just me
