I'm aware that two Gmail accounts can be merged but here's my quarrel. I do all my e-mailing via my personal gmail account "abc123@gmail.com" and my University e-mail account just recently changed over to the Gmail service. So ideally what I would like to do is have a label that all my uni e-mails go to and when sending e-mails, have the choice over which address is the sender.

The problems I foresee before I do anything are:

1. When I merge, all the message from my uni account will go to the inbox of my personal one and I'll have to sift through them all the put them in the label which would take literally forever.

2. The labels I currently have, Facebook for example, the e-mails from Facebook go straight to the Facebook label but this is only because it is from the same sender. I get a load of different addresses via my uni one.

Hope I've explained this well enough.

Can you not just set up an auto forward, and forward any emails you want to keep the destination account?
