When I launch outlook express (6), a dialogue box pops up asking for the password. The "remember password" box is checked but is greyed out. When the password is re-entered, all is well and OE runs up Ok and downloads messages from server Ok. No error messages.

I have tried re-entering the password in the Tools>Accounts>Properties>Servers password box and checked the save password box but this information is not retained and the whole rigmarole happens again next time OE is launched.

This has only started a couple of days ago, previously it has retained the password Ok for several years and I am not aware of having reset any settings etc.

As I say, typing in the password does work ok but it is a bit irksome. Any ideas what might have happened?

Make a note of the servers/username/password etc. and try deleting the whole Account and then create it again .... this sometimes flushes out small corruptions/glitches
