Default Outlook Express problems

For some time I have been experiencing problems with OE6. Whole batches of emails were disappearing from the inbox randomly for no obvious reason. There is an excellent website which deals solely with OE matters, called "insideoe" which led me to remarkable bit of software called DBXpress which was able to regurgitate all the missing emails from wherever they hid themselves. So far so good.

Now, OE keeps coming up with the dreaded "you have performed ad illegal act" banner during the initial download of emails after opening OE. This doesn't happen every time and can usually be defeated by rapid deleting of the unwanted emails from inbox and deleted folder. When selecting the details button, the fault is reported as

MSIMN caused an invalid page fault in
module DIRECTDB.DLL at 017f:01af6bb1.
followed by a list of registers.

Does anyone have any clues as to the problem here?

It might be that DBXpress has screwed up some of the registry settings needed in order to get OLE to run propperly. This does happen from time to time with utilities that so called clean up your system or make it run smoother...

Anyway, you might want to have a look at the microsoft knowledge base on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/225867/en-us. This article is about OLE5 but I'm pretty sure the way the problem is described there that OLE6 will have the same fix.

Good luck.
Cheers:
Chris
