Since there have been so many predators online, and mostly in chat rooms, do you think the golden age of free, open chat rooms...like those Yahoo had several years ago... is over?

Well I think time is almost over for me and I really enjoyed those chat rooms.:) If someone know any free option please share it.

I guess you guys have never investigated IRC (Internet Relay Chat)
Chatrooms like Yahoo are all Java scripted and poor in relation to the tools that you can use in IRC.

For some reason I have never gotten into the chat rooms. But yes, I would have to agree that they won't be free anymore. I think people that frequent them for purposes like that are disgusting.

Most chat rooms that people know of are linked mainly to ISP's, others like yahoo were free, but I feel you have no concept of the global nature of IRC tater.

I was a moderator on Tiscalis Chat years ago in #Lobby now known as #Reception and ok you could get some muppets but the majority were good people.

With ISP based java scripted chat you are tied to that isp the same as yahoo etc.

With IRC you can access umpteen IRC servers that range from America to Australia.
For an example, on Dalnet new york there are 50,000 channels or rooms in other words.

I have tried IRC chats but have difficulty maneuvering. Yahoo rooms were easy to locate and load. I have heard that many adult sties have resorted to creating their own chat rooms, which makes perfect sense.

Your welcome Tater, by the way I didn't wish to sound insulting when I mentioned your global understanding when it comes to IRC, sorry.
One thing I must warn people of though is that if a person is not absolutely conversant with IRC not to use it's DCC (Direct Client to Client) feature.
This a similar thing to P2P and we all know the dangers inherant in that.
