Default Private Messaging Between Two Networked Computers

Ok, So ive got two comptuers in my house, one in my bedroom that runs on Microsoft Professional 2000 and one downstairs that runs on XP. They are both networked through a wireess router and run the itnernet fine. Ive also managed to network them so that I can print on the computer downstairs from upstairs and I have also set up sharing folders between the two computers.

I want to know if it is possible to enable messaging between the two - sort of like msn messenger or yahoo but just privately - i.e. no one else, just the two computers in my house,.

Any help really appreciated,

Phil
