Hi

I have Windows Vista Premium as the OS on my PC and have Windows Mail. Lately, when trying to send emails through it (using my Yahoo account) I get this :

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Subject 'Re: Whatever', Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk', Server: 'smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

It seems to download mail ok and the internet is fine.

thanks

Dean

I'd guess your security package is blocking your outgoing request. Drop your security blocker and try sending mail, does it work? If that's it then remove Windows Mail from the blocker's known software list, put the blocker back up, send another mail and reset the program permissions to yes.

OK...

Windows Mail is quite generic.... what is your Mail Program? Do you mean Windows Live Mail?

What Antivirus do you use?

What Firewall do you use?

Seems to happen only when trying to send mail via Windows mail than when receiving it. However, when you do send it, the mail gets stuck in the outbox and then you cant do anything, yet alone send the mail. It does resolve itself eventually but its a bit of a pain when trying to send mail with any degree of urgency ! I use Norton 2007 internet security but suspect that live updates has done something nefarious ?! And yes I can get to Yahoo Mail no problems......if it continues I will stick with sending it direct from YM.

Did you run the tool from Internet Explorer?

What version of Norton do you have?

Is it working though now?
